What is electricity?

Electricity is the combination of physical phenomena produced by the flux of electrical charges. Some of these phenomena can produce luminous, mechanical, calorific or chemical effects, due to the separation or movement of the electrons that form the atoms.

Electrical magnitudes

The main magnitudes with which we work in the electrical area are:

  • Current intensity, which unity in the International Unit System is the Ampere
  • Tension or voltage, which unity in the International Unit System is the Volt
  • Résistance, which Unit in the International Unit System is the Ohm

Electrical equipments

Current, tension or resistance generators.
Current, tension, resistance meters: ampere meters, multimeters, ohmmeters, isolation meters, continuous current meters…

What does calibration consist of?

Calibration consists of comparing the values indicated by the measuring instrument that is to be calibrated with the values of the pattern masses that are used in specific conditions and with a defined method, that takes into consideration the influence of the different factors that affect the reading of the equipment that is to be calibrated. The calibration is carried out in a controlled and documented way.

The calibration ensures the reliability of the measurements of the calibrated equipments and to warrant the adequate functioning in the facilities and processes where they are used, contributing to increase quality.

The result of the calibration is collected in a Calibration Certificate, where the correction values to be applied in different considered calibration points will be indicated, as well as the uncertainty of those measures.
